People ask us all the time, "How did you get into the barricade business?".
It always makes us laugh.
There really isn't an easy answer. It was a mix of problem solving, a grand vision, and divine intervention.
I directed the Ocean Springs Night Parade for a few years and discovered a very real need for event barricades. In an effort to obtain the barricades, without cost to the city, Buy A Barricade was born.
It's a simple concept. People buy a barricade, their signs are riveted to it, then the barricade is donated to a participating city. The cities use Buy A Barricade barricades at their events to showcase their city, supportive businesses, and community supporters.
The "come-out" event was in October of 2016 during Cruisin' the Coast in Ocean Springs. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Buy A Barricade needed to expand but I couldn't do it on my own. That's when Mindy took a chance and jumped on board. Since we've partnered together - Buy A Barricade has expanded to also include Bay St. Louis, Biloxi, D'Iberville, Ocean Springs, and Pass Christian.
We both have hearts of service and have always longed to work together doing something beneficial for everyone. The Buy A Barricade program is truly that type of entity - a program designed to benefit everyone involved. Think about it - the cities get free barricades, the public gets safer events, and the participants get long-lasting, inexpensive messaging. ..... and me and Mindy get to work together.
